George Best died November 2005 had plenty to smile about in 1968. He was top of the footballing tree and commanded a 4-figure weekly income when the average wage was nearer £25. The 67-68 season was the high-point in Bests career. United went into rapid decline thereafter, and Bests increasingly erratic behaviour mirrored the teams waning fortunes. . REXMAILPIX.
