THE GREAT DAILY MAIL AIR RACE 1911. FIRST MAN TO FLY AROUND BRITAIN RACE The 1,011 mile race to and from Brooklands via Scotland took four days Starting on 22nd July 1911. Picture shows winner Lieut. Jean Conneau flying under the name of Andre Beaumont, in the background is the route that he took. The winner got £10,000 from the Daily Mail.
