Captain John Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Whitten Brown are pictured taking a meal in Newfoundland a few minutes before the start of their first non stop Atlantic flight. They won £10,000 from the Daily Mail for completing the race. Arthur Brown died October 4th 1948, John Alcock was killed whilst flying on December 18th 1919. Alcock and Brown. . REXMAILPIX.
